Adopt-A-Waterway-Fraser Town Watershed

Free

We want to identify and better understand everywhere within town where water flows toward, into, and along our waterways including riparian (water-side) corridors:• Where do we have flooding and flows, especially with Spring snowmelt and rainstorms.• What is the water quality and when – generally clear? Sometimes or always turbid (muddy)? Forms pools and gets real funky?• What flora and fauna does the water support – willows? Songbirds? Pollinators? Frogs? • What are the seasonal patterns?

More Information

We’re documenting all waterways in the town of Fraser – where, conditions, and ecology. We include the Fraser River, tributary creeks, and myriad smaller drainages. It’s a grass-roots program Coordinated by the Upper Colorado Watershed Environment Team (UCWET) in partnership with the Town of Fraser, the Grand County Library District, and the www.CitSci.org team at Colorado State University. We’re inviting citizen scientists of all ages to help us learn more about local conditions to better protect our waterways and guide stormwater infrastructure upgrades – culverts and gutters as well as willows and marshes.
