Created for teachers and curriculum leaders interested in offering or learning more about the NEW AP African American Studies course in preparation for the 2025-26 school year. This AP Course Awareness Session introduces participants to the design and pedagogy of the course.
AP African American Studies is an interdisciplinary course that examines the diversity of African American experiences through direct encounters with rich and varied sources.
The AP African American Studies Awareness Session seeks to enhance participants’ understanding of the course topics and delve into the course’s design. During the session, participants will analyze skills assessed in AP AfAm, review past exam questions, plan for the student project component, and engage in an AP AfAm lesson.
