Using a Communities of Practice (CoP) model, we will work together to deepen our understanding of the sensemaking Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs): analyzing and interpreting data, developing and using models, and constructing explanations, as outlined in Helping Students Make Sense of the World Using Next Generation Science & Engineering Practices by editors Christina Schwarz, Cynthia Passmore, and Brian Reiser. On March 19th, Kristin Hunter-Thomson from Dataspire will be joining us as an expert keynote. We will begin meeting through Zoom starting in February with our final meeting in April. As a CoP, we will be practicing strategies, sharing ideas about what works, learning from others and growing together.
