More Information

Get excited for Astronomy on Tap at Bow & Arrow Brewing at 6pm on Tuesday June 16th! Each FREE Astronomy on Tap event features accessible, engaging science presentations on topics ranging from planets to black holes to the beginning of the Universe. Events always start off with trivia and prizes to test and reward your new-found knowledge! There is always lots of time to ask questions and interact with the presenter and other scientists who inevitably stick around for the beer. Be sure to follow us on Instagram (@AoTABQ) and on Facebook to get updates on future events! ———————————————— Speaker: Dr. Samantha Garza Bio: Dr. Samantha “Sam” Garza got her Astronomy PhD at the University of Washington and is now an Education Specialist at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. She has previously studied the inner arms of the Milky Way, the relationship between how fast stars are forming and annoying dust particles, and (her favorite galaxy) the Whirlpool Galaxy. For her dissertation work, she researched the atmospheres of galaxies to further our understanding of how galaxies evolve over time. She loves serving the public through outreach and has had so much fun traveling the state to work with students. In her free time she enjoys crafting, playing volleyball, hiking, and baking for her friends. ———————————————— Upcoming Astronomy on Tap Events are on the third Tuesday of the month! July 21st: Dr. Rick Perley (NRAO) August 18th: Dr. Chenoa Tremblay (NRAO/SETI/UNM) September 15th: Luis Contreras-Vidal (NMT) October 20th: Dr. Darcy Barron (UNM) November 17th: TBD December15th: TBD ———————————————— Passionate about astronomy and want to share it with the public?
