!! UPDATED SPEAKER !!

NO TICKETS NEEDED

Astronomy on Tap – Bristol is back again for November! Join us on Wednesday, the 11th of November for an evening of fun, astronomy themed talks.

For this event, we have talks from Ailsa Campbell, a University of Bristol Ph.D. researcher, explaining how westudy clouds in exoplanet atmospheres, followed by Josh Dury B.A. FRAS , an award-winning astrophotographer from the UK, talking to us about the * night sky and how human activity and light pollution has affected it *! We will also have an astronomy themed quiz where you can win some prizes.

The event is FREE and all are welcome! We operate on a first come first seated basis, so make sure you get there on time to secure a chair.

Clouds and Hazes in Exoplanet Atmospheres**– Ailsa Campbell**

For two decades, scientists have been able to probe the atmospheres of planets orbiting other stars (‘exoplanets’). Clouds and hazes are prevalent in a diverse range of exoplanet atmospheres. Their formation and distribution are closely tied with what an atmosphere is made up of and the temperature structure. These aerosols can interfere with observation efforts and make it challenging to interpret an atmosphere! I will discuss how we can study clouds and hazes, why this is important, and what we can learn about an exoplanet.

Our changing view of the universe**– Josh Dury**

Our view of the night sky is changing. With advances in light pollution and technology pointing skyward, the way we view the night-sky could well change as soon as the next five to ten years. In this talk, we explore the wonders of the night, environmentalism in astrophotography and dark sky advocacy – to raise awareness of fragile ecosystems at night and the beauty of the subject we both study and love.
