Astronomy on Tap NYC 179: Celebrating the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope!

Join us for the Astronomy on Tap NYC’s 179th event, and the next in our monthly series at Somethin’ Else! Astronomy on Tap is fun and informative, with professional scientists and educators, plus games, prizes, and a bit of learning while drinking.

This month, we are celebrating the successful launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope!! Featuring: •Amethyst Barnes (she/her), CUNY Grad Center, about her work with the telescope’s science team and her excitement about what’s coming! •Matt Stanley (he/him), historian of science and physics at NYU Gallatin and co-host of the What the If? podcast, who will regale us with stories of Nancy Grace Roman, the “mother of Hubble,” and the early days of NASA. •And Special Rocketry Correspondent, Russell Taragan (he/him), AMNH, reporting on the launch.

Located in the DeKalb Market, Somethin’ Else is the bar next to the Escape Room, across from the Jamaican spot. Grab a bite from the market and bring it in! Doors open at 7:00pm, event start at 7:15pm. Arrive early to get your seats, grab a drink, and settle in for science talks, trivia, prizes, and fun!
