Axalta Community Free Day at the Michigan Science Center – Saturday, April 12** * Featuring Axalta’s 2025 Global Automotive Color of the Year, “Evergreen Sprint”*

If you’re looking for a day of family-friendly fun—complete with speed, science, and a dazzling new automotive color—mark your calendar for Saturday, April 12 (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.). The Michigan Science Center (Mi-Sci) and Axalta Coating Systems are joining forces to host a Community Free Day, where admission will be free to the public (with advance registration). Rev Up with “Evergreen Sprint” Axalta will showcase their brand-new 2025 Global Automotive Color of the Year, “Evergreen Sprint.”** This deep forest green nods to classic British racing green—a color synonymous with speed, innovation, and high-performance vehicles. It’s the perfect centerpiece for a day dedicated to all things transportation* and STEAM* (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math).

Racing & Safety Highlights:** The event is also presented in partnership with the Detroit Grand Prix** and the Keifer Foundation** , bringing fun and informative activities focused on racing and safety. Whether you’re a budding car enthusiast or just love hands-on exhibits, Mi-Sci’s got you covered.

Hands-On STEAM Adventures:

Reimagined Kids Town Exhibit:** Perfect for ages five and under—watch your little ones explore, discover, and play. Creative Vehicle Building:** Make your own (imagined) speedster using Blue Blocks, Nudel Kart, and Dinosaur Bone Builders by Imagination Playground. Blue Blocks** (soft, durable foam) let even the youngest scientists join in on engineering fun. Nudel Kart** (lightweight wood pieces) breaks down into customizable parts—perfect for thinking outside the box. Dinosaur Bone Builders** encourage kids to design creatures—whether it’s a fierce carnivore, a gentle herbivore, or something entirely new! More to Explore:**

Beyond these special activities, you’ll have access to Mi-Sci’s hands-on exhibits**, live demonstrations**, Smithsonian Spark!Lab**, and STEM Playground**. Don’t miss the Tyrannosaurs: Meet the Family** exhibit upstairs for a roar-some experience. Interested in catching a 3D show? The Toyota 3D Engineering Theater** will be open (tickets can be purchased at the box office).
