More Information

This is a free, in-person talk hosted by the Blanchardville Public Library on October 23, 2025 at 10:00 AM. No registration is necessary to attend. This event is part of the Wisconsin Science Festival! Wisconsin’s weather is becoming increasingly variable, with tornadoes in February and 80° weather in November. We’ll look at patterns in severe weather across the state, what types of changes are being seen, and what communities are impacted. Amanda Schwabe is a Climate Outreach Specialist for the Wisconsin State Climatology Office. She has a background in science communication, having worked as a broadcast meteorologist for five years after completing a B.S. in atmospheric and oceanic science from UW—Madison. At the state climate office, she works to design, promote, and support educational programming and outreach to help partners understand and adapt to weather and climate challenges in Wisconsin.
