  Where in eastern NC can you find fossils, flight simulators, faintin’ goats, AND over 2,000 feathered friends in one place? Well Sylvan Heights Bird Park of course!On Saturday, April 18th from 10:00AM-2:00PM, Sylvan Heights Bird Park will celebrate Earth Day, the largest family event of the year. This event brings the public together with over 20 regional environmental and community organizations in an interactive event that highlights careers in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) field through fun hands-on demonstrations, experiments, and activities.Visitors of all ages will have the chance to dig for fossils with the Aurora Fossil Museum and Scotland Neck’s Rock Museum, learn to fly with Elizabeth City State University’s Dept. of Aviation, learn about the latest in firefighting technology with Coopers Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, interact with faintin’ goats, miniature horses, reptiles and of course birds- just to name a few! All activities are free to the public with paid admission to the park.
