Holiday Star Party Food Drive

Jockey’s Ridge State Park will be hosting an evening under the stars on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Telescopes will be set up for public viewing.  Our knowledgeable staff and volunteers will guide you across the universe.

Be a SHINING STAR and support the event by dropping off a canned good for local individuals in need over the holiday season. Volunteers from the Friends of Jockey's Ridge will collect the donations and drop them off with our wonderful friends at Beach Food Pantry.

This event is made possible with the support of Back Bay Amateur Astronomers, Dare County Library, and Beach Food Pantry. This event will take place at the park’s visitor center parking area and indoors.  All are welcome to bring their own equipment.

Please remember that there are restrictions on the types of food donations the Beach Food Pantry can accept. Also, please note that all donations we accept must include an ingredient list and the nutrition facts.

The Beach Food Pantry can take close-dated or expired foods under certain conditions.

Suggested donation items are below:

• Canned Vegetables (~15 oz) 
• Canned Fruit (~15 oz)
• Peanut Butter (18 oz)
• Canned Chicken, Ham or Tuna (5 oz cans)
• Brown Rice (16 oz)
• Canned Soup
• Pork & Beans
• Canned Beef Stew
• Canned Beef Chili with Beans
• Diced Canned Tomatoes (14.5 oz)
• Grape or Strawberry Jelly (18 oz)
• Pancake Mix ("Complete" - or "just add water")
• Pancake Syrup
• Hamburger Helper
• Salad Dressing
• Toothpaste
• Feminine Products
