Members of the public are invited to join us for International Observe the Moon Night on Saturday, October 4 at 8PM. The free event will be held at Salt Meadow Park in Madison, CT.
(see event driving directions and other information at: https://shorelineastronomicalsociety.blogspot.com/p/international-observe-moon-night.html)

Members of Thames Amateur Astronomical Society will be supporting the Shoreline Astronomical Society at this event.

International Observe the Moon Night is a worldwide public event that encourages observation, appreciation, and understanding of our Moon and its connection to space science, exploration, and human culture. This annual event connects scientists, educators, and lunar enthusiasts from around the world.

The event at Salt Meadow Park will be held from 8PM – 10PM and will include telescopes to view various features of the moon and Lunar Maps of highlighted features. Other astronomical objects may be highlighted as well if this bright phase of the Moon does not wash them out.

International Observe the Moon Night is sponsored by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) mission and the Solar System Exploration Division at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, with many contributors. LRO is managed by NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, for the Science Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

No registration is needed but a "Going or Interested" response is helpful for planning purposes.
