More Information

Help the Institute of Urban Ecology collect data on a newly introduced beetle species!
In 2018 while collecting data for his research on ground beetles, Dr. Rob McGregor stumbled upon an unfamiliar species. With help from his colleagues Dr. McGregor discovered that the strange beetle he found was called Nebria brevicollis, a European beetle species. After some more research we believe Nebria was first introduced in Oregon and has somehow found its way up to Coquitlam, BC and beyond!
Now you can help us discover just how far Nebria has spread by joining our Beetle Watch team! It’s as easy as digging a hole in the ground and snapping a few pictures!
