More Information
Join Ranger Nikki on an easy/moderate terrain hike to see plant life that may have been invigorated by any monsoon rains and butterflies searching for food. Ranger Nikki will lead you on a hike to look for blooming vegetation and pollinators such as butterflies, beetles and bees that may be visiting flowers. Learn how to document your findings on the citizen science app, iNaturalist, and how to join app-based local and worldwide biodiversity projects. (There is limited to no data service in the park so please download the iNaturalist app beforehand at home and sign up for an account). We will start at the main park trailhead near the restrooms and use the roadway to access Dragonfly Trail for a total of 2 – 2.5 miles, depending on our pace and what we see. The terrain varies from smooth and level to uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, snacks and plenty of water. Make sure your phone is fully charged. There is no water available at the park so be sure to bring plenty of your own. Portable restrooms are available at the trailhead.
