Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Hiking with Dogs

Calling all dog lovers and their adventurous pups! Join Ranger Jacque for a wag-tastic time on the trails as we make new friends (both two-legged and four!) and explore Usery Park during the stunning golden hour. We’ll hit the Lost Sheep trails for about 2 miles. Along the way, we’ll chat about trail “petiquette” – ensuring everyone stays safe and happy – and share useful tips. This includes discussing hands-free leash options, identifying wildlife to look out for, essential rattlesnake information specific to dogs, and even ideas for where to go or how to keep your dog active during the summer heat. You can expect easier and flatter, yet still gravelly terrain. Remember to keep your canine companion on a 6-foot leash, bring plenty of water for both of you, and don’t forget those doggie bags. Sturdy shoes and a hat for the humans are also a must. Restrooms and water are available at the trailhead restroom building, where we’ll meet. It’s going to be a paws-itively great time! Program is weather dependent. Please check back here for cancellations due to extreme weather events before setting out. MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center Limit 8 participants.
