More Information

UNC Chapel Hill professor Bob Goldstein has funding from the National Science Foundation to bring microscope-building workshops to teachers at NC public elementary schools.

A workshop lasts 90 minutes, during which each teacher builds a simple microscope that works with smartphones, iPads, or most tablets. The workshops are fun and interactive.

• This is primarily for teachers of grades 2-5. The microscopes help teachers enhance students’ experiences with the NC Essential Standards for science in these grades.
• If you have at least 12 teachers interested in a 90-minute workshop, I’ll try to visit!
• I can often arrange for a workshop to happen right after your school day ends, or on a teacher workday – I’m happy to try to find a time/day that works well for your school.
• I bring all the materials, and there’s no cost at all to you or the school.
• Contact me at bobg@unc.edu or learn more here: www.diymicroscopes.org
