Reid Park Zoo: Dr. Zoo 2

Is your child ready for the next level of Veterinary Training? If your child has already attended our original Dr. Zoo program and wants to expand their Vet in Training knowledge, this program is for them! Participants will be based in the Freeport-McMoRan Education Gallery to view the surgery, treatment, and pharmacy rooms of the Animal Health Center, but will also have some behind-the-scenes time with Zoo animal residents to learn how to collect vitals such as heartbeats and temperatures. They will also get to practice diagnostic and “surgery” skills with some stuffed animal patients, and report their findings to their fellow participants. Please note: this is a more advanced program with reading comprehension and math skill requirements designed for children ages 10-14. These classes are designed for children to participate independently. Parents, please plan on dropping your child off for this program. Drop-off and pick-up will be at the front of the Zoo.
