Why can’t dogs see colors? How does a person get cancer? Even elementary students have questions about science. Through SciChats@Salk, Salk scientists can provide the answers—face to face.
SciChats@Salk is a free virtual interactive experience that pairs students in a classroom (or an alternative learning setting) with a volunteer scientist for an interactive conversation about what it’s like to be a scientist. SciChats@Salk gives students a clearer picture of how science progresses, encourages them to imagine a future for themselves as scientists, and illustrates the contributions that science makes to our society.
Salk researchers respond to student questions about general scientific topics as well as specific experiments being conducted in the labs. The conversations emphasize the importance of science in daily life and help the students imagine themselves as scientists.
