The last Sunday of the month we venture to one of Tucson’s many urban parks to hone our birding skills in a fun and joyful manner. This month we visit Christopher Columbus Park. When you combine two lakes, native flora, and large trees you are in for a great day of birding. Come join fellow birders as we explore this westside hotspot known for its waterfowl, raptors, desert favorites plus the chance for some rarities and migrant visitors. This park sports a list of nearly 250 species, so you just might find your next favorite bird. The pace will be relaxed with seating available for breaks or during mini bird sit moments. Whether this is your first time or you’ve been birding for years, there is always something new to experience. Open to all levels. Plan to wear comfortable walking shoes and dress warmly in layers. Bring your binoculars, water and snacks as needed. Meet in the north parking lot by the bathrooms which is accessed from Silverbell Rd. Limit 12 participants.
