More Information

Trip Difficulty: Easy. Walking about 1 mile on sidewalks and some uneven ground (grass and dirt). Bathrooms and drinking water available. Calling all young birders! Kids of all ages and their guardian(s) are welcome to join Marie Davis on a nature walk and activity. We’ll explore the ponds and surrounding areas at Reid Park. We’ll definitely look for birds, but we’ll also stop to investigate anything interesting in nature that catches our eyes. We’ll do a fun nature activity – maybe arts/crafts, or a game, etc. We’ll search for desert bird species like Gila Woodpeckers, Vermilion Flycatchers, and Great-tailed Grackles. We’ll also look for waterfowl like Mallards, American Coots, and Neotropic Cormorants. If you have some, please bring binoculars and a field guide. Wear comfy shoes for walking. Bring water and snacks (but please don’t feed the birds!). Final trip plans will be emailed to participants. Limited to 6 families. You only need to register once, as a family. Priority will be given to families with children. Adults must attend the walk. Please assist your child(ren) if needed – kids love the extra attention! Walk is limited to 15 people (not counting children under 3). All children must be accompanied by at least 1 guardian. Leaders: Marie Davis (marietucson520@gmail.com) and Donito Burgess (dburgess@tucsonaudubon.org) Registration is free.
