Verde Valley Birding and Nature Festival: “Kadillac Kayaks” at Alcantara Field Trip

Water Trip On this new variation of our signature trip, we will be taking tandem kayaks down the Verde River for a different perspective of the riparian habitat. The trip will end at Alcantara where we will enjoy a lunch. Experienced paddlers pilot every kayak so you can sit back and enjoy the river’s surprises. There’s always the chance that you might get wet so wear shoes and clothes that can take the water. Shorts are recommended depending on weather. A change of clothes in your car might make lunch more pleasant if you do get wet. This trip is dependent upon the temperature of the water and weather. Weight limit - 250 lbs. The festival, presented each April by Friends of the Verde River, is a purpose-driven community benefit organization and 501© 3 non-profit working to preserve one of the last perennial flowing rivers in the American Southwest.
