Collect the common fruit fly to assess the prevalence of viruses commonly infecting Drosophila over time and across diverse geographical regions.Encourage others to ask questions and promote a sense of curiosity through approachable experiments that can be done at home or in school.

Our lab studies virus-host interactions and what drives evolution on the part of the virus and host populations. We are specifically interested in a common fruit fly infecting virus called galbut virus. Through the collections obtained by volunteers on this platform we will be able to track the prevalence and genome evolution of galbut virus over time and space.
