Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Desert 101 Hike

Join Ranger Derik on a moderate hike through the Estrella foothills and learn about the animals, plants, and people that call the Sonoran Desert home. This hike will cover roughly 3 miles on moderate rocky trail and link sections of the Quail, Rainbow Valley, Baseline, and Saddle trails. Over the hike you will gain a little over 300 ft of elevation and lose about the same on a trail that can be rocky and sandy in places. If you have stability issues hiking poles and sturdy hiking boots are strongly encouraged for this hike. Water and bathrooms are available by the front entrance of the nature center and a liter of water is recommended for the hike. MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center back patio Limit 25 participants.
